4. Participation Activities

Please check all air quality activities you plan to incorporate in your B2 program. You can print this list from the "How to Participate" page.

Note: The first five activities are required.

Vehicle Counting Activity (Baseline & Final) for cars and buses.
Install/Post “Anti-Idling” signs in the appropriate car rider/bus lanes (provided by DES/BAQ while supplies last).
Adopt an “Anti-Idling Policy” for all vehicles (including buses, parents, staff, and visitors).
Educate the parents, bus drivers, faculty, and staff about your B2 program and anti-idling policies.
Post pictures of your B2 campaign on your school's website and/or send pictures to the B2 coordinator.
Participate in the EPA Air Quality Flag Program . Your school will receive garden flags (pole not included) that correspond to the Air Quality Index (AQI).
Survey the parents asking them if they would consider transportation options such as carpooling to school, walking to school, busing to school, etc., then plan/promote most popular answers.
Promote your B2 Program through the school newsletter, web site, and other media sources.
Create and have parents and bus drivers participate in a pledge signing to stop idling.
Display a “No Idling Zone” banner in a prominent area (provided by DES/BAQ while supplies last).
During morning announcements, announce the Air Quality Index level and display the appropriate colored flag.
Incorporate air quality lessons into the curriculum. Visit Resources For Schools for lesson plans and ideas.
Teach a lesson from the "Take Action SC" lesson resources.
Plan a "Walk and Bike to School" event.
Install an air quality landscape project — contact your local Urban Forester .
Paint “No Idle Zone” on the school car rider and bus lanes.
Create and maintain an air quality bulletin board.
Recruit new B2 schools, businesses, and other community partners.
